National Library Week

The Daily Cupcake would like to think that you all have sore throats today from all the Karaoke-ing you did last night.  You probably can’t speak above a whisper.  Tonight you need someplace quiet, right?  Perfect!  It is National Library Week.  The library: home of the whispering crowd.  We will fit right in!

Families financially hard hit are skipping the stores and getting their books, DVDs, and video games from the library.  Even the worst of times can have surprisingly positive effects.  Re-discovering the library is one.  If you haven’t been in a while, this is the week to blow the dust off of that library book that has balanced out your dining room table for the past year, return to the library, pay the fine, and enjoy the tremendous resources our library system has to offer.  All the latest magazines, computers with Internet access, books, CDs and movies are available for free.  It’s a great way to while away an afternoon.  And with the economy recessed, libraries are in deep need of funds, volunteers and community support.  To the library!
